A picture tells the story

A railroad track built over an old road. The road had stone walls on either side. They were built over older walls:
In the foreground you see a "new" wall. If goes over an older one that ends at the railroad "cut".

And if you connect the sort of triangular stone resting on the big round stone at the bottom left to the longer layer of stones (that seem to show some quartz on the under sides of them) trailing behind it, like a snake and body, would you find similar layers with that same pattern, if you stepped back a couple feet? Would you see a large triangular boulder line up aligned with the stone row that comes up from the cut? If you follow the row long enough will you find a big boulder - or two boulders at a gap - that might be reminiscent of a larger serpent petroform?
